My Comments |
I'm not sure if my sister thought it was a bit of a joke or a serious gift, but she bought me this for christmas. I tend to think it was a serious gift, and I actually like it's history and kitch-yness. It was made in the 60's and is still made today! Of course they brag that David Bowie used it (on Space Oddity), but I'm sure it was only on his first album. Kraftwerk also used it (no bragging about that though) on thier computer world album. It has a saw like sound that can be used in 3 octaves, you have to use the pen to make contact with the metal keyboard for it to sound. And it is monphonic. You can add vibrato for a bit of different sound. The only bad thing for me, is the wire that attaches to the pen on my unit was crimped and doesn't make the best connection, it cuts in and out. Not sure if I can fix it. It is a very niche device, so I an trying to fit it into my smallest rig. Eventually I think I will.
